Amelia, The Duchess of Shaw, Has Accepted the Invitation to Make the Royal Walk at the Exclusive Krewe of Barkus

Leading Grande Dame in Washington and Europe, Amelia will be Accompanied by Lady Karen and Lady Sally

Somewhere in Ireland - Amelia, The Duchess of Shaw, has agreed to interrupt her current tour of Ireland, birthplace of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, and return to North America to attend the famous Krewe of Barkus parade on Sunday, February 16, 2020 in New Orleans (www.Barkus.org)

“Most parades I attend are in my honor; to walk in one will offer me a unique perspective. All my European friends are barking and whining that they are not included,” said the well-bred Duchess. “I am eager to show off how well my two human companions, Lady Karen and Lady Sally, are trained. Human rehabilitation is my passion in life. I am delighted to share with the world the impact of my training and obedience work and demonstrate how it has really developed these two rather devoted humans. It is charming to see their progress.”

The Duchy of Shaw is a royal enclave situated within the City of Washington, on the banks of the Potomac River. Amelia, The Duchess of Shaw, summers with other canine royalty in Brooklin, Maine and leads an active social and political life in Washington, DC. When not traveling Amelia advocates for better treatment of humans and their appalling conditions. The Duchess is also known to travel incognito to New Orleans where she maintains a pied-à-terre.

Amelia comes from a long and distinguished line of Wheaten terriers. Like America itself, Amelia was born on July 4, 2018. Her royal bloodline descends from her mother, Blue’s Molly Doll, and her father, Woodside Duncan of the Ozarks. Wheaten Hills is the breeder and the proprietor is Leslie Furlong. Her royal patron is Karen Tramontano.

Fashion designer and court favorite of The Duchess is Ann Kaufman. Guidance for the royal parade is provided by New Orleans artist Jan Gilbert.
